This page serves to list down the volunteering opportunities that we are opening for you as an alumni of SPIN and a member of Solo & Strong!

  1. Volunteer Befriender to Single Parents
    Commitment: At least 1 touchpoint per week, over a minimum duration of 6 months
    Location: Off-site, depending on the befriender and the beneficiary

    Volunteer Role Description:
    Many single parents face challenges such as social isolation, stress, and limited support networks. Befrienders offer a caring presence, listening ear, and encouragement to help single parents feel supported and connected. By walking alongside them, you help build resilience, confidence, and stronger ties to HCSA SPIN for them.

    Volunteering Scope:
    • Provide weekly social interaction through meet-ups, calls, or text check-ins.
    • Offer companionship and emotional support, listening with empathy and without judgment.
    • Encourage single parents to participate in HCSA SPIN programmes
    • Share information on available resources or activities (without giving professional advice).
    • Support paired single parent in building confidence and a sense of belonging to a positive community
    • Maintain clear boundaries and confidentiality at all times.
    • Flag any concerns to the HCSA SPIN staff promptly
  2. Volunteer Event Helpers – Event Support, Childminders, Photographers)
    Commitment: Ad-hoc (but typically on weekday afternoons and Saturday mornings)
    Location: HCSA SPIN & Off-site (depending on the location of the event)

    Volunteer Role Description:
    Event Helpers play a key role in creating welcoming, smooth-running, and meaningful experiences for single-parent families. Your cheerful presence and helping hands ensure that every participant feels cared for and included during SPIN events and workshops.

    Volunteering Scope
    • Assist with event setup, registration, and logistics.
    • Welcome and guide participants, especially parents and children.
    • Support activity booths, games, or workshops during the event.
    • Help with distributing materials, refreshments, or goodie bags (if any)
    • Assist with crowd management and safety protocols.
    • Help with event teardown and clean-up
    • Report any issues or feedback to HCSA SPIN staff
    • Plan activities for children and take care of children (additional for childminders only)
    • Take photographs for events (additional for photographers only)
